Dr. Sokoine Kivuyo is a senior researcher and physician working at the National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania, trained in medicine and public health. Currently, he co-ordinates research on the prevention and management of HIV-infection, diabetes, and hypertension with the Research Partnership for the Control of Chronic Diseases in Africa: RESPOND-AFRICA. He has more than 15 years’ experience in research, his current focus is on the delivery of integrated care for people with HIV and non-communicable diseases, investigating prevention of non-communicable diseases in people living with HIV, strategies to improve the management of these conditions, and improving clinical care whilst reducing the burden on health systems.
